Census records use in genealogy

There are many sources of census records. The key is to find a good index.

The easiest set of census records to use are those at Ancestry.com. The entire U.S. Census has been indexed. You can also find census records for Canada and the United Kingdom. At one time, the only way to research the census was to request a roll of  microfilm, often $2.00 or more per roll. Believe me, requesting roll after roll of microfilm adds up quickly and can be quite frustrating. It is so much easier to search the online index.
